Baystate Health EMR Interoperability: The Choice is Clear
Baystate Health of Springfield MA is once again in the “Top 100 Most Highly Integrated Healthcare Networks” for seven consecutive years. In its continued pursuit of clinical excellence, Baystate Health has executed the Physicians Alignment Initiative to improve the service offerings to the 600+ physician practices affiliated with the health system. Baystate Health has recognized the rapid rise in demand from physicians for real-time delivery of clinical information, including laboratory, radiology, and other documentations, and is addressing them within this initiative. The initiative includes an electronic process for exchanging information between Baystate Health and the practices that has an EMR/EHR application which have been installed for a number of physician practices.
Using fax technology and the US mail service to deliver patient results to physician offices in the past posed a problem for medical doctors, especially ones utilizing an EMR/EHR system. Physicians were not able to leverage some of the key capabilities of the EMR/EHR system. For example, they were unable to take the lab results and graph it to find trends, which therefore restricted the quality in physician-care and patient safety.
The Accenx solution to EMR interoperability, however, provides hospitals with the solution to deliver all types of electronic clinical results to physician office EMR systems, and offers to manage the integration process including support and maintenance for each physician office. With RyTRAK-HIE, Baystate is able to provide physicians who are sending their patients to use their reference labs or ancillary systems an easy, inexpensive, non-intrusive way to receive results from the hospital facilities into their office records, without having to buy or install new software.
Hospitals, like Baystate, benefit the most from Accenx’s EMR Interoperability solution because they have a service to offer to physicians, and secure the loyalty and revenue. In addition, Accenx’s solution alleviates the burden on IT staff resources to manage and execute the service, so they can remain focused on the unending internal priorities for the hospital, while Accenx manages everything for them. Other benefits include simple deployment, HIPPA compliant, secure encrypted information exchange, no VPN or hardware required, and a low cost alternative to traditional integration options.
